The African Strong Will

Africans have a strong "will" to survive any situation without backing down.

Once upon a time in Edjeba  Warri,  Delta state Nigeria.  A young man named Samuel  was with his second wife because she was heavy (pregnant) and he was just so curious about what his unborn baby was going to look like. He anticipated the birth of this child to an extent he started daydreaming about the sex of the his wife could possibly be carrying on her womb.
On the 2nd of February his wife went into child labour and not too long enough the cry of a bouncing baby boy was heard and he was so excited blessed God almighty for the safe delivery and for keeping both mother and child alive. Not too long after the successful child delivery, news came into town in regards to the good news and they made merry all day long .

His first wife had given birth to two male children and a girl for him but he was still very delightful about the birth of his New addition to the family circle. After he discharged them from the Warri general hospital, he threw a party for the naming of the child.

"Life as a child is always
          enjoyed because the
           father can go all out
            just to make sure
          that his child is well
          taken care of and mak-
          es sure that they don't
          lack any basic necessi-
          ties during the first three
         months after birth".

The child was named Oritsegbubemi (God have answered my prayers ).  As time goes by, days became weeks, and weeks became months the child began to grow up and became very fund of his father and he loved him very much. He used to take him whenever he goes
out for a stroll in the evening after work.  His elder siblings would be very jealous and wants to beat him most times. There was peace and harmony everywhere around the house and the family was surrounded with love. As he grew stronger in weight, height strength his father decided to enroll him into one of the government school's close to his work place so as to enable him pick him up early when he closes from school everyday. There was much laughter and business was booming fine for his father. Everyone loved him because he his very smart. After some years his mother became pregnant and later gave birth a baby girl. He was very happy very happy to see his mother and the new born baby safe and sound, he accompanied his father to the doctors office to offset the hospital bills so that they could be discharged and go home.

When the baby clocked three years of age his father and mother had a little dispute and she had to move from the house to her village (Mosogar) for the situation to cool off. Mean while his father was secretly going to her village in a bid to bring her back home. After some couple of months she came to the house and they started living as one big family again.

One evening, his father came back from work and there was a hitted argument betwixt his parents all he and his siblings could do was to cry throughout that night and they were spoken to by their neighbors and adviced them to stop quarreling, they yielded to the advice and stopped quarreling and they all went to bed that day very sad. It was in the morning the best that his mother started narrating to them the real cause of the argument they had the previous night.  She told the children that their father is having an affair with a lady that works with her aunt that owns a restaurant close to his father's work place and that she was the one that supplies food to them and that she saw the lady in question sitting on his lap the other day and now he is denying it and that was the major reason why she was and still angry with his father. Later the his father returned from his work place and reopened the argument again by telling her that the girl she is accusing him of dating and he was not having any affairs with her and that for the wrong accusations,  he was going to marry her and wait to see what his mother can do about. They fought that night and his mother cried the whole night.

The next day he repeated the exact same words to her again in the morning, making clear to his mother that he was going to get married to the girl because she had Lied against him for no reason. So at noon that day his mother went to his father's work place and as soon as she opened his office door she saw the sitting on her husband's laps and making out there in his office.  Then confronted them and she was given the beating of her life. Suddenly one of his friends ran to their house to tell them that his mom is crying on her way back to the house, then he ran out with his siblings to meet their crying mother and accompanied her home.

As soon as she got to the house,  she just went straight into the and started packing up her belongings that she was going to leave the marriage but the children tearfully pleaded with her not to leave them and go away. She agreed and promised them she would not leave them.

That unforgettable night brought a lot of misery to his childhood and that of his siblings. His father came back home with the girl and asked her to go inside the and feel at home, that night was on hell of a night in that neighbourhood they fought again that night and the father gave his mother a serious beating that very night but the did not pass the night in their that night because their neighbours had to intervene,  saying it is not a right thing to allow her pass the night there and she left.

So the next when they woke up in the morning,  he could not find his mother anywhere around the house.  He had to ask his father but his reply was just so out of place and very confusing to the children. A week later his mother returned from her trip and was looking very pretty and fresh, the kids were very excited to see their mom back and safe. When they asked her about her reasonsfor the trip, she told them that she had to make that trip so as to avoid being beaten over and over again by their father. She told them that she had to pay her uncle in Lagos state a visit and clear her head from all that has happened and she gave them the stuffs that she got for them on her way back then she went out to visit a friend . Prior to her return from Lagos,  her husband had already carried the girl to their house and she has been living there whilst she was away. She got the news from the lady she has gone to visit and later that evening his father and the girl came together holding hands. When she got back from that particular visitation it was chaos that night as there was pandemonium at each corner of the house.  His father then asked the girl to hide inside their room and that was the height of the whole issue that night.  The whole was filled with persons trying to help calm the situation but to no avail as they started fighting again that night and the beautiful wig that she was putting on was destroyed that and she also sustained some injuries.  And that was the start of a whole new unfortunate chapter in their family. Her friends had to forcefully bundle her out of the house because the war was not getting any cooler,  and she passed the night at one of her friends apartment. When she returned home in the morning, her belongings had been moved out of the room and placed in one of the other rooms and his father dropped a message that they should tell her not to go any where near his room, and that she should just stay in that room if she still wants to be in the house or else he will send her parking.
